The disaster that struck the population of Hazara and AJK on 8th October is unprecedented in this country rather globally. No wonder that we have to count tens of thousand of deaths, hundreds of thousands of injuries and millions of displacements. In Hazara alone according to official estimates more than 23,000 are dead and 45000 injured and about a million displaced. The dead and injured include a substantial number of school going children. The children and women are the worst affectees of the whole scene. Similarly hundreds of people have lost parts of their body as they faced amputations. They need limbs replacement.
The objective of the Project is to provide Limbs replacement to all those who have lost their limbs and hands during earthquake for the people of Hazara Division, AJK and other parts of the country.
Activities to be carried out under project:
1. Compilation of data of amputation cases and other disabilities.
2. Limbs replacement to all those who have been amputated during earthquake.
3. Establishment of Physiotherapy Centre.
4. Cover the patients of Rawalakot, Bagh, Muzafarabad, Balakot, Mansehra, Allai & Batgram through Mobile
Health Units. (Phase I)
5. PIRC aims at improving the quality of the life of people especially disable women and children.
6. To provide Rehabilitation services of the country irrespective to their caste, creed, religion and income etc.

The idea to establish a Rehabilitation centre in Abbottabad because the disaster that struck the population of Hazara and AJK on 8th Oct is unprecedented in the country rather globally. Majority of the people from the affected area used to small farmer most of them living below poverty line, having small scale agriculture live stock raring off-farm employment as their livelihood for subsistence living. The earthquake added to their miseries manifolds and has snatched these facilities from those who survived. A very dangerous trend is in the offing. Majority of the survivors are especially orphans and widows.
Taking into consideration the local status of people and infrastructure status of the Hazara Division, Northern Areas and AJK. Abbottabad should be as the center place to establish a rehabilitation centre.
Mobile Unit has been set up and equipped with latest machinery to provide the Orthetics & Prosthetics facilities to the people on their door step affected in the disastrous 8th October, 2005 Earthquake. Who have lost their limbs in this devastation. These facilities will be provided free of cost.
